Portraitistocracy™ is derived from the words portrait and aristocracy. The word portrait is considered a portrayal of the subject being represented in a painting, sketch or sculpture. Today artists are utilizing modern tools such as cameras to capture and embellish images that portray the subject telling a story of their life, capturing the essence of who they are their own surroundings. In the past only aristocratic people, commonly referred to as docents, had access to and could afford to commission well known artists to portray them and/or others in their own environments capturing a moment in history.
Portraitstocracy™ is a modern term for an artist commissioned to capture the subject in their own surroundings utilizing modern technology of camera’s, lighting and backdrops to tell a story of their life and capturing more than just the subject but documents a moment in time.
